Itinerary
Day 1
Drive to Panimuhan gate
Short drive to the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park entrance at Panimuhan, above Budhanilkantha, and buy permits.
Day 1
Climb through oak and rhododendron forest
Steady ascent on the old army road and forest trail, good birding country with over 300 recorded species.
Day 1
Shivapuri Peak summit
The second-highest point on the valley rim (2,732m), with Ganesh Himal and Langtang north and the whole Kathmandu valley south.
Day 1
Nagi Gompa nunnery and lunch
Descend to the Nagi Gompa nunnery on its hillside terrace for lunch and a look at the meditation halls.
Day 1
Descend to Budhanilkantha
Final descent to Budhanilkantha, ending near the sleeping Vishnu temple.
